New Monthly Expanded Huntingdon Market to be Launched

Huntingdonshire District Council, in collaboration with Huntingdon Town Council and Huntingdon BID, are launching a monthly expansion of Huntingdon market to focus on local artisan traders that will be known as Fayre on the Square.

The Huntingdon market currently takes place every Saturday and once per month, starting with Saturday 12th November, the market will be expanded from its usual location along the High Street to also take over the Market Square. The expansion will allow for a greater number of market stall holders to take part in the market, as well as use the extra space to provide activities and entertainment that will rotate monthly.

Executive Councillor for Leisure, Waste & Street Scene, Councillor Simone Taylor, said: "We have been working alongside Huntingdon Town Council and Huntingdon BID to create a bigger and more entertaining monthly market offer in the town and Fayre on the Square is the result of that hard work. We will be inviting more artisan traders and providing space for activity sessions and live acts to take part.

"The market will continue every Saturday as normal, however, the monthly Fayre on the Square gives us an opportunity to create bespoke market offers for each month and utilise space in the town centre for the benefit of residents, visitors and traders."
The Mayor of Huntingdon, David Landon Cole, said: "The historic heart of Huntingdon will come alive with the monthly Fayre on the Square - artisan gifts, locally-produced goods, and free entertainment and a fantastic atmosphere for everyone to enjoy (and do some early Christmas shopping). I hope people from far and wide will come to Discover Huntingdon!"

Fayre on the Square offers a great way for not only existing traders to expand their visibility, but we hope it will encourage more smaller traders to take that first step into business"

The Fayre on the Square expansion of Huntingdon market will run through to the new year, taking place for the first time on Saturday 12th November from 10am until 3pm. The market will feature live entertainment, locally produced goods and artisan gifts.
